Nestled in the heart of Escarpment Country is a rustic getaway that exemplifies above-and-beyond customer service.
The Mohawk Inn and Conference Centre, located just outside Milton in scenic Campbellville, offers the perfect pairing of a quaint atmosphere for an escape with staff who’ve thought of every detail to make your visit comfortable and memorable.
Recently my husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Inn for an evening, which included all of the perks of the Rustic Romance package: our accommodations, a box of chocolates, bottle of sparkling wine, two casino vouchers and a voucher for the onsite restaurant, the Mohawk Chop House.
From the time we arrived and were greeted by the friendly front desk staff, we felt very welcome; like all employees truly do care that we have a good experience. The lobby, with its rustic wood beams and earth tones, is very warm and inviting. The entire Inn has been renovated and updated with an eye to maintain its original cottage-like feel and country charm.
Our first stop for the evening was the Mohawk Chop House. We frequently eat dinner out, and I can honestly say that this restaurant tops our list of all-time favourites. We love the fact that the chef uses fresh products sourced from the area, including locally-raised beef that’s free of hormones, additives and antibiotics.
The spacious, yet cozy dining room delivers the rustic feel found throughout the Inn along with some extra touches, like animal hide-covered booths.
The menu features a large and unique selection of beers and a great variety of dishes, from hand-cut steaks and grilled sustainable salmon to classic favourites like liver and onions and old-fashioned beef stew. The flavours and presentation carefully created by the chef are amazing.
The Mohawk high standard of customer care certainly carries over into the Chop House, where we were attended to by friendly, attentive and knowledgeable wait staff. We look forward to making the Chop House a regular dining location.
Before heading out to the Mohawk Slots and Raceway, which is conveniently located next door to the Inn, we went back to our room to unwind with the champagne and chocolates included in our Rustic Romance package.
Our room was pre-heated to a pleasant temperature, which was much appreciated on a chilly evening. We were also greeted by a hand-written card from Mohawk staff welcoming us to the Inn. It’s personalized touches like this and attention to detail that elevate the Inn’s customer care to the next level.
The rooms at Mohawk offer a cozy cabin feel, along with all the amenities you would find in a mainstream hotel: a fridge, selection of coffee and tea, desk, couch, comfortable king size bed, television with a large selection of channels, updated bathroom and quality toiletries.
The Inn is perfect for all types of travellers, from individuals on business and couples to families and large groups. The main building contains 23 spacious guest rooms, while steps away are seven more rooms with fireplaces in the Tree House – a unique hideaway that would be great for romantic getaways, girls’ or guys’ weekends and wedding parties.
The Mohawk Inn also recently acquired the Toronto West KOA Campground, which is located on the same property and accommodates both campers and RV travellers.
Additional on-site amenities include renovated meeting and banquet facilities, a heated outdoor pool, hiking trails and ample free parking.
Besides Rustic Romance, there are other packages available that cater to a variety of tastes. The Enjoy Nature package provides guests with a family pass to all six Conservation Halton parks in the area, while the Shop and Stay package offers a VIP coupon book worth hundreds of dollars in savings at the nearby Toronto Premium Outlets. All packages include overnight accommodations and a meal voucher for the Chop House.
